Resilience, Kangaroo Island
Acrylic and graphite pencil on canvas: 75cm x 102cm
This is a retrospective work inspired by fires that impacted Kangaroo Island in 2020. Reflecting the incredible resilience of the Australian bush, a slow-growing Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea) takes centre stage with touches of colour against a monochrome world, representing centuries of survival and the unstoppable renewal of life by a species uniquely evolved to thrive in extreme conditions.
